Dear Cornerstone 1st Service Family,
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! We’re writing to you to share some exciting developments that are in the works at Cornerstone Church. But first, we want to thank you for your faithfulness in attending the early morning services at Cornerstone each Sunday. Jamie and I, pastors Barry and Ann and our staff and leadership could not be more grateful to God for each of you.
We love you all, and we know that for many of you the early service has been your primary point of contact with the Body of Christ at Cornerstone Church.
In the coming weeks, we will be sharing the results of the congregation-wide survey we conducted in early Spring. Perhaps the most compelling takeaway from that survey was a clear desire for more discipleship opportunities, specifically with others in our church family.
Since last year, Jamie and I have been praying about when and how to best launch this kind of discipleship ministry, so we were very encouraged by the survey feedback. We’re so excited to share details around this effort in the weeks ahead, but God willing, we plan to launch that ministry in early Fall.
As an immediate step in that direction, we have some exciting news to share with you.
Starting Sunday, June 1st, we will combine our two Sunday morning services into one, church-wide, dynamic service that will begin at 10:30 AM.
We arrived at this decision after many months of prayer and contemplation, for a few key reasons. First, we are convinced that the entire Cornerstone family should gather together in unity - in the same place - as often as possible, and at least once a week. Hebrews 10:24-25 is emphatic on this issue:
23 Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]; 24 and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, 25 not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.
Not only will one Sunday worship service foster greater unity and enhance the worship experience, it will make the most of the tireless efforts of everyone who serves. Finally, this schedule change will free valuable time between 9:00am-10:30am on Sundays that we intend to use beginning in early Fall 2025 for the new church-wide discipleship ministry we're so excited about.
We believe this change will result in a more vibrant, cohesive and healthy church family. Everyone together. Better vibes. A family united. A church unified in our passion for proclaiming the Gospel of the grace of God through the Lord Jesus and making disciples who will settle for nothing less than to see lives and communities changed by the grace and power of God.
We highly value your prayers and support as we embark on this new chapter. Great days are ahead for Cornerstone, and we are excited to journey together in faith and purpose. If you have questions or concerns or just want to talk, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. The best is yet to come!
With gratitude and anticipation,
In Him,
Pastors Andrew & Jamie
