Dear Cornerstone Family

As you know, during the weekend of September 6-7, Cornerstone Church will gather to celebrate and honor our founding pastors, Dr. Barry and Ann Burns, as we mark an amazing milestone in their decades of faithfulness to God’s calling on their lives: 50 years in full-time ministry.

During those fifty years, God has moved mightily to honor our pastors’ faithfulness to Cornerstone Church. Heaven alone knows the full impact their ministry will ultimately have in expanding the Kingdom of God. But we can know this with certainty: countless thousands of people here in our region and around the world have been saved, healed, delivered and discipled through their perseverance to minister the Gospel of the grace of God through Christ Jesus “in season and out of season.”

We are all the beneficiaries of their decades of obedience to the Lord’s calling and of their consistency in pressing on toward God’s best for the Body of Christ - here at Cornerstone Church and beyond.

We praise God through our Lord Jesus Christ for them, their example and their unwavering commitment to building a Bible-based, spirit-filled church where the grace of God through our Lord Jesus Christ is proclaimed without compromise, where the Holy Spirit is welcomed, where miracles happen, where believers are equipped and discipled through the teaching of the Word and where the lost find salvation, healing and restoration through the finished work of the cross.

We aren’t the only ones who recognize something special about pastors Barry and Ann and their ministry legacy. It’s a testament to their legacy that internationally known ministers like Andrew Wommack go out of their way to join the Cornerstone family as we rejoice in the Lord for our founding Pastors and this remarkable 50 year milestone next month.

As the beneficiaries of their decades of toil for the Gospel’s sake, scripture is clear what our response to pastors like Barry and Ann should be:

17 Let the elders who perform the duties of their office well be considered doubly worthy of honor [and of adequate financial support], especially those who labor faithfully in preaching and teaching.
18 For the Scripture says, You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain, and again, The laborer is worthy of his hire.

That’s why we’re asking you to prayerfully consider joining us in taking this opportunity to bless our founding pastors financially, to honor the Lord and His Word, and also to show forth our love, honor and appreciation for Barry and Ann and their living testimony of what it looks like to ‘run a good race and fight the good fight.’

Should you decide to join with us to bless Pastors Barry and Ann, we respectfully ask you to consider foregoing the tax deduction such a donation would typically carry if it were given to Cornerstone, and instead make your financial gift out to Pastors Barry and Ann Burns directly.

For those who are able, this approach will ensure they receive your full gift, since financial gifts for pastors given to the church are subject to IRS federal income tax and other withholdings before pastors can receive them. That said, we understand that any giving is sacrificial and that forgoing a tax deduction may not be an option for you.

Whether they are made out directly to Pastor’s Barry and Ann or given to the church, gifts should be clearly marked or noted with ‘50th Anniversary Gift.’ Your gift can be dropped into any offering collection between now and Wednesday, September 3, at the church office during church hours, or online.

Above all, we are asking that you please pray with us that this special weekend of celebrating and honoring a lifetime of ministry for our founding pastors will be used by God to bless, encourage and strengthen them for their ministry that is still to come.

Please agree with us in faith that Pastors Barry and Ann will be overwhelmed by the love, encouragement and blessing they receive from the Cornerstone family next month as we celebrate their singular contribution to the Kingdom of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ who redeemed us!

Blessings,

Pastors Andrew and Jamie
